But hidden within this kaleidoscope of bustle lies a true gem – the Shanghai Greenhouse Garden (上海辰山植物园). Imagine escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and entering a vast green world where nature unfolds in all its splendor. This is not just a park, but a fully-fledged world-class botanical garden, spread across a vast area where every corner surprises and delights. What makes it so special and interesting? 1. The Main Greenhouse – the Glass Wonder of the World! This is the heart of the garden and a true Instagram star! Three giant interconnected domes transport you from the tropical jungle to the arid desert, and then to a world of rare and endangered plants. 2. Stone Quarry Garden – History and Nature in One! One of the garden's most unique features is its "Mine Quarry Garden." An old stone quarry has been transformed into a stunning landscaped park with sheer cliffs, deep lakes, and winding paths. 3. Endless Theme Gardens and Lakes: In addition to greenhouses, the grounds are home to dozens of other gardens: a Rose Garden, a Medicinal Plant Garden, a Protected Plant Garden, and many others. How to get to this wonder? Shanghai Greenhouse Garden is located in Songjiang District, a little further from the city center, but well worth the trip! 1. By metro (MRT) – the most convenient way: * Take Line 9. * Get off at Dongjing Station (洞泾站). * From the station exit, take the local bus Songjiang 19 (松江19路) or Songjiang 19 Express (松江19路快线). * Go to the final stop, which is the entrance to the botanical garden. 2. By taxi/Didi: Simply enter "Shanghai Greenhouse Garden" (上海辰山植物园) as your destination. This will be faster, but more expensive than the metro and bus. My tips for a perfect visit: * Set aside a full day! The garden is huge, and to leisurely enjoy all its delights, you'll need at least 4-6 hours, or ideally, a full day. * Comfortable shoes are your best friend. Be prepared to walk a lot! * Water and light snacks. Although there is a cafe on site, it's always a good idea to bring a bottle of water. * A camera or phone with a good camera.
