Exploring Yuyuan Garden and the food I tried

Yuyuan Garden is often referred to as the most traditional Chinese spot in Shanghai. It includes attractions like Yuyuan Garden itself, the Nine-Bend Bridge, the Old City God Temple, and Fangbang Middle Road Old Street, along with a variety of Shanghai delicacies. Shen Dacheng: Famous for its green rice balls, the outer layer is made from mugwort. I tried a red bean paste green rice ball and a butterfly pastry. The green rice ball had a texture where the filling and the skin felt separate, which I didn’t quite enjoy. The red bean paste wasn’t overly sweet, and the skin had just the right amount of chewiness. The butterfly pastry, on the other hand, was surprisingly light in flavor, not what I had expected. Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant: Ordered a crab roe soup dumpling and a fresh meat mooncake. Using a straw to sip the soup from the dumpling was quite a unique experience. Dahuchun: The outer layer was a bit thick, but the bottom was perfectly pan-fried, with a slight sweetness to the taste. It felt more like eating a bun. Shanghai Old Yogurt: Bought from a random shop. I expected it to taste like yogurt drink, but it was closer to a thicker yogurt. Personally, I found it quite enjoyable. Hanchun Teahouse: Tried the loquat and pear soup, ordered it unsweetened. It truly wasn’t sweet, but the large half pear inside was naturally sweet when eaten. Overall, I liked it quite a lot.
