based on 9 reviewsThe timing of our trip was a bit off; it wasn't the peak time for the leaves to turn yellow. The weather that day was also a bit foggy, creating a misty, ethereal atmosphere. Walking through the Jiangnan Hanging Temple nestled between cliffs, it felt like stepping into a scene from a classic Chinese fantasy novel.
Daci Cliffs Scenic Area is located 24 km south of Jiande. The mountain features a glittering double-sided Buddha statue, and the temple architecture halfway up the mountain is half embedded in the cliff and half suspended in the air, similar to the Hanging Temple of Mount Heng, earning it the nickname "Hanging Temple of Jiangnan".
The attraction everywhere embodies the character "suspended"; plank roads, temples, and the giant Buddha are all built against steep cliffs. Although most of them have been rebuilt, they still make people marvel at the creativity of the ancients.
Tour Route
The scenic area features a roughly circular route. For visiting Daci Cliffs Scenic Area, we recommend taking the cable car up the mountain and then walking downhill counterclockwise, which saves both time and energy. After ascending, there are still uphill and downhill mountain paths to navigate, with some exposed areas that can get quite sunny in summer. The main highlight is walking along the winding cliffside boardwalks to admire the mountain-embedded pathways, temples, Buddha statues, as well as the distant rolling green mountains and tiny towns below - creating truly spectacular views.
Xuankong Plank Road
From the foot of the mountain, you can see the glittering double-sided Buddha statue on the mountaintop from afar. After getting off the cable car, a short walk up the mountain leads to the suspended plank road. The plank road offers an excellent spot to photograph the panoramic view of the main buildings in Daci Cliffs Scenic Area, so don't miss it. After walking across the plank road, don't forget to turn back and take a close-up photo of it; the flying eaves and corridor pavilions clinging to the mountainside are also iconic views of Daci Cliffs Scenic Area. Continue walking a bit further, and the natural standing Buddha is another unique feature here: from the side, the main peak of the entire Daci Cliffs Scenic Area closely resembles a standing statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Strange rocks, peculiar caves, and plants harmoniously form the facial features of the Great Buddha, and visitors invariably stop to admire it.
Temple interior view
The Daci Cliffs Scenic Area features two major highlights: the Two-Faced Buddha and the Ksitigarbha Hall. Visitors can walk along the plank path to see the Two-Faced Buddha up close or visit the Ksitigarbha Hall to pray for blessings. Behind the Heavenly Gate, cherry blossom trees are adorned with red ribbons tied by visitors, creating a serene Buddhist atmosphere. The statues in the Arhat Hall also showcase remarkable artistic expression.
After visiting the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Hall in Daci Cliffs Scenic Area, exit the temple gate. On your right, there is a trail leading down the mountain (approx. 30 min). The trail is quite hidden; if you can't find it, you can ask the staff. The scenery along the downhill path is also beautiful, with a stream accompanying you. In October, when the ginkgo trees turn yellow, the view is even more charming. If you wish to take the cableway down, you will need to return to the upper cableway station via the same route.
Additionally, Xinyue Ancient Village, the filming location for "Where Are We Going, Dad?" in 2014, is not far from Daci Cliffs Scenic Area, so you can visit both. It's a great experience to see old houses, explore ancient villages, and try the "celebrity-style" amusement rides.

I went during the New Year's holiday, and it wasn't too crowded. Although we took the cable car up the mountain, there were still many steps to climb, and the glass walkway also required an entrance fee. The value for money was so-so. The scenic area isn't very large; we took the cable car up and the slide down, and finished exploring it in about two hours.
We completed a loop, and it was definitely worth the challenge! The view from the summit was beautiful! There were quite a few people eating vegetarian noodles 🍜, and even the kids climbed back down without taking the cable car. We started climbing around 10 am and reached the bottom around 2 pm. Completed ✅ My first mountain of 2026!
Spectacular mountain scenery: Daciyan is steep, with overlapping mountains and emerald green. When surrounded by clouds and mist, it is like a fairyland on earth. Climbing high and looking far, the vision is broad, which can make people feel the majesty and magnificence of nature. Hanging wonders: Represented by the Hanging Temple in Jiangnan, the temple building is half embedded in the belly of the rock and half suspended in the air, which is similar to the Hanging Temple in Hengshan. The plank road and the big Buddha are also built on the steep cliffs, which makes people marvel at the creativity of the ancients. Natural standing Buddha: There is the "First Natural Standing Buddha in China", which is 147 meters high. The Buddha's head is made of grass and trees, which is natural. From the viewing platform, it is magnificent and integrated with the surrounding natural scenery. Buddhist culture: Daciyan is known as the "Little Jiuhua in Western Zhejiang". There are many Buddhist cultural books and historical relics preserved in the temple. The buildings such as the Ksitigarbha Hall are solemn and simple. Here you can feel the strong Buddhist atmosphere, and activities such as holding the Buddha's feet and hanging blessing cards are also full of ritual sense. Historical relics: There are many cliff carvings and historical relics such as the thousand-year-old ginkgo in the scenic area, which witness the changes of the years and allow people to appreciate the rich historical and cultural connotations during the tour. Diverse tour routes: Whether you choose to hike the whole way, climb the mountain from the left clockwise and go down the mountain from the right; or take the cable car up the mountain and go down the dry slide, you can enjoy different scenery. Tourists can choose according to their physical strength and preferences.
At 10:50, we walked to the ticket gate. We passed a lake and walked around it. We could take some photos. The road we walked was uphill, so we walked to the entrance of the mountain at 11 o'clock. We rested for a few minutes in two pavilions on the way. We climbed to the top of the mountain at 11:55, and then walked (climbed) to Tianyin Pavilion at 12:40. Then we walked to the dry slide again. The glass plank road costs 40 yuan, and the dry rice road costs 60 yuan. There are also tickets for sale on it. If you slide down quickly, you can slide without braking for ten minutes, and then walk down all the way. It is faster to go down the mountain. It takes about three or four minutes to reach the entrance of the stone steps, and then walk to the gate of the scenic area.
The Jiangnan Hanging Temple is worth a visit. Please note that the ticket plus the cable car is 150 yuan, which is a one-way cable car ticket. The normal route is to walk all the way to the Hanging Temple and then walk down the mountain. If you want to turn back halfway and take the cable car down the mountain, you will have to pay more.
Free entrance fee with Zhejiang ID card, must buy 2 yuan insurance. The whole journey was on foot, no cable car, it felt good. There is a walking trail next to the cable car station when going down the mountain, no need to go back. The weather is good, the scenery is good, the Ksitigarbha Hall, the two-faced Buddha, and the Hanging Temple all have their own merits along the way, the whole journey takes 3 hours. Must wear a mask, stop 10/time.
The scenic spot is very good, the environment is well sanitation, and every corner is very clean. The scenic spot facilities are complete and the service staff are very friendly. The scenic spot is also very beautiful. It was drizzling and foggy on the day I went, which added to the mystery. It is worth a visit.
