Xinchang Ancient Town: A must-visit place for the New Year, with great food and shopping!

I come here every New Year🏮 It's a great place to shop and eat🍜 - 📍Xinchang Ancient Town 🔍Address: No. 128, Haiquan Street, Pudong New Area, Shanghai 🚄Transportation: Take Metro Line 16 to Xinchang Station, then take a taxi for 10 minutes. 🚗Driving: Self-driving is recommended. It takes about 40 minutes to drive from downtown. The parking lot in the ancient town costs CNY 7/hour, and parking at the entrance of Nanshan Temple is free (limited spaces). 💰Tickets: Free, no reservation required, open all day - 🏮The ancient town is not very commercialized, and it has a more rustic and lively atmosphere. We went there on the first day of the New Year, and it was very lively at noon. Some people were shopping for New Year goods, and some were taking their families for a walk. The crowd was bustling. 👉Recommended places to visit: 🚶‍♀️Sanshi Erpin Brand Square: Known as the "No. 1 Archway in Jiangnan", it is a filming location for the movies "Ip Man" and "Lust, Caution", and has a strong cinematic atmosphere. 🍵Diyilou Tea Garden: There are regular Pingtan performances, where you can drink tea and enjoy a leisurely holiday. 🧨Nanshan Temple: At the end of the main road in the ancient town is Nanshan Temple, which is very popular. It is very meaningful to pray for blessings in the New Year. Light an incense stick and make a New Year's wish🙏 - 🍜Since the renovation of Zhaojialou Ancient Town, many shops have moved here, and there are more snacks, which are delicious and affordable. Remember to save some room in your stomach to try some local Shanghai snacks when you visit. 👉Recommended food: 🍲Zhu Zhidou Zhangji Chicken Soup Tofu Pudding: I have a bowl every time I come here, and it still tastes familiar👍The chicken soup is boiled as a base, with peach gum, coriander, and dried shrimp, making it very fresh! They also have wontons. 🫓Xiasha Fresh Meat and Bamboo Shoot Shaomai: A specialty of the ancient town, you can choose any shop without worry.
