Nanxiang Guyi Garden and Impression City: The largest classical garden in Shanghai and an ecological commercial complex

Guyi Garden is located in Nanxiang Town, Jiading District, Shanghai, and is the largest classical garden in Shanghai. It was originally built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1522—1566), initially named Yi Garden, inspired by the phrase 'lush bamboo' from the Book of Songs; later, it was designed and constructed by Zhu Sansong, a bamboo carving artist from Jiading, featuring a variety of bamboo scenes carved on pillars, rafters, and corridors. In the 11th year of the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty (1746), the garden was expanded and renovated, and its name was changed to Guyi Garden. The garden comprises six major scenic areas: Yiye Hall, Playful Goose Pond, Pine and Crane Garden, Qingqing Garden, Mandarin Duck Lake, and Nanxiang Wall, creating five distinctive features: verdant bamboo, serene winding streams, Ming Dynasty architecture, couplets of poetry, and beautiful flower and stone paths. The style is simple, elegant, refined, and pure. The nearby Impression MEGA City is a commercial complex with a construction area of 340,000 square meters, featuring an ice rink, department stores, a food court, etc., with a modern decoration style. The atriums, such as Crane Dance and Crane Soaring, are rich in Nanxiang characteristics, and the rooftop walkways, courtyards, and soccer fields combine fitness and leisure. Impression City is located at the Chenxiang Highway Station on Metro Line 11.
