Visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace in a Korean traditional dress

One of the things that I normally would deem as "way too touristy " and yet happy that I did in Seoul - is visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace while wearing traditional Korean clothing called hanbok. This promotes by the government and those who rent a hanbok may enter palaces in Seoul for free - so, it is indeed a cultural thing here. There are plenty of hambok rentals around Gyeongbokgung Palace, so it is a no brainer. The palace itself is beautiful and quite crowded by the main entrance. However, if you walk a bit further from the main gates - it becomes quite empty and enjoyable... And perfect to take lots of pictures in hanbok without any strangers in the frame! Tip 1: hanbok is made of polyester, so it's hot. Save this experience for moderate weather. Tip 2: there is not much shade at Gyeongbokgung Palace, so take an umbrella or use lots of sunscreen if it's sunny.
