Wat Phakho

Today, I visited Wat Phakho or Wat Ratchaprathit, located on Khao Phakho or Khao Phatthasing, Village No. 6, Chumphon Subdistrict, Sathing Phra District, Songkhla Province. This temple is important in terms of history, archaeology, and religion. It is the location of Phra Mao Lak Chedi, which is a southern architectural style from the Ayutthaya period, in the style of Sri Lankan art, and is related to the legend of Luang Pho Thuad stepping on the seawater. According to the chronicles, one day a pirate sailed along the coast and saw Somdej Phakho walking, looking strangely different from other people, so he wanted to test him. The pirates stopped the boat and captured Somdej Phakho. After the boat sailed for a while, it could not sail any further. It had to stop for several days until the fresh water ran out. The pirates were distressed. Somdej Phakho felt sorry for him, so he dipped his left foot in the seawater, which sparkled brightly. The seawater turned into fresh water. The pirates were filled with faith, bowed down, asked for forgiveness, and brought Somdej Phakho to shore. Since then, many people have come to pay homage. At the end of this month, there will be a Kathin ceremony. Inviting Buddhists to join in making merit on October 30, 2022. I would like to express my gratitude to all Buddhists.
