Quanzhou South Shaolin Temple is a historic Buddhist temple located in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, China, and is one of the branches of the South Shaolin Temple. The South Shaolin Temple is the birthplace of martial arts in southern China, and it is said to have been founded by Zhi Kong, one of the thirteen monk warriors who allegedly saved the Tang emperor. Historically, the Quanzhou South Shaolin Temple was a vast architectural complex, with thirteen successive halls stretching from the foothills of Dongyue Mountain in the east to the Dongmen moat in the west, from Dong Lake in the south to the Islamic cemetery in the north. The existing Dong Chan Shaolin Temple is only a small part of the Quanzhou Shaolin Temple. The martial arts activities of Quanzhou South Shaolin Temple have a long history, and the martial arts culture represented by South Shaolin martial arts is an important part of Quanzhou's cultural heritage.
