Nanwutai Mountain Nanny-Level Guide (Filmed on 11.23)

After resting for three days, I finally recovered and am sharing a hiking guide for Nanwutai Mountain to help friends avoid pitfalls: 1️⃣ Take Metro Line 2 and transfer to bus 730. Be sure to get off at [Weiqunan Station] in advance, not at Hejiaying Station ⚠️. On weekends, it’s crowded, and bus 730 is small. Many people are already lining up at Weiqunan Station, and there’s no chance to get a seat if you board two stops later at Hejiaying. My friend and I arrived at Weiqunan bus station around 9 a.m. and barely got two seats. Otherwise, standing on a crowded bus for over an hour is tough. 2️⃣ Bus 730 goes directly to the scenic area ticket gate. It’s recommended to buy tickets in advance and enter by scanning the QR code screenshot. The signal at the mountain top is poor, and buying tickets again takes a long time. 3️⃣ Less than 20 meters after entering the scenic area is the waiting area for the shuttle bus, which takes you directly to the foot of the mountain. There’s a WeChat payment QR code on site; one-way is 20 RMB, round-trip 40 RMB. After paying, just show the staff your payment record. There are many buses, so don’t worry about long waits. We waited less than five minutes before boarding. I recommend taking the bus up the mountain; it takes about 20 minutes. The mountain road is narrow and full of shuttle buses going back and forth with no pedestrian path, which is quite dangerous. Friends with good stamina can ignore this. 4️⃣ If you get motion sickness, it’s recommended to use motion sickness patches or medicine in advance. The mountain road has many sharp turns! Luckily, I hadn’t eaten breakfast that morning and chatted with my friend, enduring nausea throughout the ride. 5️⃣ For friends who get severe motion sickness like me, don’t eat greasy food before the ride. It’s best to bring a pack of sour plums or fruit candy. On the way back, I ate a grilled sausage and vomited twice on the bus ride back. It was very painful. 6️⃣ The hike up the mountain is relatively easy. The back of the ticket has route instructions, and there are many signposts, so don’t worry about getting lost. We took the challenge route up and a different route back. Along the way, we met a kitten and cute little snowmen. The wind was light, and the scenery was beautiful and stunning 👍. 7️⃣ On the way to Lingtai Mountain, there is a fork leading to [Nanshan Bulaosong] as shown on p10. If you have the stamina, it’s best to take a detour to see it. There are many steps, but the distance isn’t far. The Bulaosong tree looks like an upside-down tree root with lush branches and leaves. Even in late autumn, it remains evergreen and vibrant. Personally, I think it’s more worth seeing than temples or statues. 8️⃣ On the return trip, the bus was very crowded with almost no seats. Many drivers also offered shared rides by the roadside for 10 RMB per person, directly to the metro station. It’s not expensive and worth taking. 9️⃣ When returning, it’s recommended to get off at [Hejiaying] metro station. There’s a night market and snack street with many delicious and affordable options. After eating, you can conveniently take the metro back. Super convenient.
