Surprise Birthday Dinner @Xijufang

Last month, on Che Baba’s birthday, several members were busy with their own things! So we postponed his birthday dinner to October, and we had a very pleasant surprise dinner that night. This restaurant is located in Tai Kok Tsui and is called Hei Ju Fang. Although the storefront is unremarkable, the lost dishes served inside are truly hidden treasures! The restaurant is not big but it is packed and it is difficult to get a taste without a reservation. Of course alcohol is indispensable when we get together! Champagne, white wine, whiskey and dessert wine are all available, and it is a very enjoyable night to eat and drink. As soon as you sit down, you will be served the legendary national treasure Peking duck at $980 per duck! The crispy duck was served on a large, flavorful plate. After we take the photo, the waiter will cut the duck open! It is filled with lotus seeds, scallops, barley and salted egg yolks. It looks no different from Eight Treasure Duck, but what is so special about it? The duck meat is very soft and the most important thing is that the duck skin is crispy and delicious! The ingredients inside are very delicate and have rich flavors. Most importantly, it tastes very fresh and not greasy at all. I finally understand the flavor of this duck, which is really tempting. Whiskey is a perfect match with this delicious duck. Thanks to my good friend Bread for the gift of whiskey. I am so happy. Next up is this dish called the Lost Secret Fried Stuffed Prince Fish Maw $60/piece! The appearance, which resembles soft ice cream, is already very eye-catching. The big, thick fish belly is full of collagen, and is stuffed with fresh pork belly and salty scallops. It is seasoned with abalone sauce and has a rich and delicious taste. The homemade stir-fried pork belly with olives and pork belly $680 was my favorite dish of the night! The generous portion of tripe is super crispy, and paired with olives and bell peppers to add to the taste, it is so delicious with all the color, aroma and flavor. Desire is like a dream, $80/piece. 12 pieces or more are required! Fortunately, a customer had made a reservation that night, so Chef Bao specially made a little more for the customer to share, so we were able to taste this evil yet wonderful "dream" flavor. The dish is made of chicken intestines wrapped with chicken liver, chicken heart and chicken kidney, and seasoned with delicious fermented bean curd. The chicken intestines are refreshing and flavorful, the chicken liver is soft and smooth, with a texture like foie gras, plus the crispy chicken kidneys and chewy chicken heart. This dream is so evil but so delicious that I don't want to wake up. The soup of the night is Gassho Melon Soup for $298! The taste is very sweet and you can tell the real ingredients, but one bowl per person is not enough. The stewed tofu at the boat house is $128, with a rich flavor paired with fried tofu! The flavorful dried shrimp and minced meat give the fragrant tofu a rich flavor. This dish is perfect to be enjoyed with rice. Jin Yao Kung Fu Emerald Beans $480, this taste is definitely handmade! It takes a little skill to make the split edges of beans stuffed with delicious shrimp paste! I like it best when paired with the crispy fried scallops, which adds texture and savory flavor to the dish. Refreshing vegetables are needed at this moment to awaken the taste buds! Having never eaten fresh king mulberry before, I chose stir-fried king mulberry with dried shrimp and local squid for $168. The texture is similar to okra but softer, and the flavor is light and fragrant without much personality. It is more prominent when paired with dried shrimp and local squid. Add a plate of Chinese cabbage sprouts in soup for $148! The fried garlic definitely adds a lot of fragrance to this dish, and the salty flavor of the ham soup makes the cabbage even sweeter. I finally met Brother Bao in person and he is very friendly and polite! His master, Master Kwong Bing-kwan, is a royal chef. Most of the dishes we ate had been tasted by heads of state and celebrities. As expected, a good teacher produces good students, and we were really blessed that night. I was actually quite full by this point! But when I saw that the traditional glutinous rice chicken for $50 could be ordered a la carte, I couldn’t miss it, so I immediately ordered two to share. The glutinous rice chicken that Princess Diana devoured six pieces of was filled with only salted egg yolk, mushrooms and scallops! The essence lies in the fried glutinous rice, which is very chewy and refreshing, and cannot be compared with the steamed one. If you are looking for the ultimate taste, you must try this glutinous rice chicken. Many thanks to the members of Jitiaoleng for carefully planning this birthday dinner for Che Dad. It was very satisfying both physically and mentally and we are still reminiscing about it today. Finally, we arranged this very easy to check-in Fugui Yemingzhu $238 as a birthday dessert. Regardless of how it tastes, this thoughtful thought has already made Dad Che very happy. I really admire Brother Bao’s ultimate cooking skills. These nostalgic lost dishes are becoming increasingly rare! I look forward to visiting Treasure Brother again to taste other wonderful and delicious dishes.
