May Day Travel Portal, a story of arriving at the other side of the portal to the Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam

Construction began in the 18th century and took over 50 years, representing a masterpiece of German architectural art. The artist king who changed Germany, Frederick the Great of Prussia Although later generations bestowed upon him the title 'the Great', Frederick himself designed Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam and had it completed by architect von Knobelsdorff, and we can still see his influence today. Frederick II referred to himself as 'the first servant of the state'. In addition to German and French, which his father insisted on, Frederick II also spoke English, Spanish, and Italian, and could understand Latin and Greek; he was quite skilled at playing the flute, had held solo concerts, and was praised by 'the father of Western music' Bach. He also drafted the design for Sanssouci Palace and personally supervised the construction progress; in terms of thought, he was influenced by Enlightenment ideas, read a great deal of Voltaire's works, and even invited Voltaire to the palace to discuss and exchange ideas. In a militaristic state like Prussia, Frederick II became an enlightened king. The third photo shows: The fountain in front of the palace faces the grand entrance porch, from which a sloping vineyard terraced terrace unfolds. The terrace is divided into parallel bow-shaped 6 sections with 120 steps, flanked and surrounded by lush greenery. Within the stone walls of each terrace level, there are neatly arranged arches, inside which grapes 🍇 are planted. In the summer, grapevines climb and spread from the arch trellises, appearing charming and graceful, adding delicate and vibrant greenery to the stone terrace. The garden also has a hexagonal pavilion, named 'Chinese Tea House', featuring traditional Chinese green glazed tiles and an umbrella-shaped roof, with a statue of a seated Chinese official holding an umbrella atop the round column. The fruit-green walls are inlaid with gold edges, and golden columns form a circle, surrounding life-sized gilded figures (representing Chinese people). The building's color scheme is fresh and bright, the decoration luxurious, reflecting the popular Chinoiserie of the time. The fourth photo is Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin.
