My understanding of Baoen Temple came from Mr. Youshan’s video. The Baoen Temple in that video deeply shocked me! This temple was built by a local chieftain in the Ming Dynasty. They spent a lot of money to invite 20 craftsmen who participated in the construction of the Forbidden City. It was built completely in the style of the imperial palace, so it is called the "Forbidden City in the Mountains." Because Emperor Yingzong of the Ming Dynasty wanted to investigate, the chieftain hurriedly converted it into a temple, and Bao'en Temple became a "palace-style" temple. In the core position of the temple, there was a sign that read "Long Live the Current Emperor". First, the building is made entirely of nanmu wood. Baoen Temple has a unique style. The entire temple is built with high-quality nanmu wood, and every detail is worth savoring. Second, the Chakravartin Sutra Collection. This is the best-preserved prayer wheel in the country. It contains the Tripitaka. Rotating it can accumulate merits, and it can still rotate today. The tower is made of golden nanmu wood, 11 meters high and 7 meters in diameter, which is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Third, Thousand-Armed Guanyin. It is carved from a whole piece of golden nanmu wood, 9 meters high, with a total of 1004 hands, each with an eye. However, due to its age, the skin has fallen off severely, and many of the eyes are no longer clearly visible. Fourth, Ming Dynasty murals. Painted in 1446, it is still well preserved nearly 600 years ago. The murals on the second floor of the Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas are better preserved, but they were not open to the public when I visited. Fifth, the image of a group of dragons. The temple is filled with dragon carvings and paintings, with a total of 9,999 dragons, so Baoen Temple is also known as the "Dragon Palace in the Deep Mountains." Sixth, the bracket structure.
