If nothing unexpected happens, this will be the most shocking ancient building in Sichuan this year! The chakravartin is exquisite and beautiful, and the dragon carvings on the pillars next to it are lifelike. The Thousand-armed Guanyin made of golden nanmu is also superb. The layout of the building is known as the "Forbidden City in the Deep Mountains". We have to admire the skills and aesthetics of our ancestors. 📍Mianyang Pingwu Baoen Temple (ticket price 40r/person) ▪️History: Baoen Temple was built from the fifth to the eleventh year of the Zhengtong Period of the Ming Dynasty (1440-1446), and has a history of more than 500 years. Because it is located in the mountainous area, not only has the wooden structure preserved its original Ming Dynasty appearance relatively intact, but the colored paintings, the chakravartin, the nanmu Thousand-Armed Guanyin, the wall sculptures in the main hall, and the murals in the Ten Thousand Buddha Pavilion are all exquisite works of art from the Ming Dynasty. ▪️Main highlights: ① The Sutra Relic of the Wheel of Revelation in the center of the Huayan Collection is a pagoda-shaped vessel made of golden nanmu wood. It symbolizes the cause and effect cycle of Buddhism. The upper end is inserted into the hall beam, and the lower end stands on a cast iron anvil in the center of the circular pit. It can still rotate smoothly. Because it is made of nanmu wood, it is anti-corrosive and anti-termite. It is the best preserved and most exquisitely crafted of the few revolving sutras in China. The dragons carved on the pillars on both sides are coiled around the pillars, which is quite shocking. ②The Thousand-Armed Guanyin carved entirely from golden nanmu wood in the Great Compassion Pavilion is about 9 meters high, with a vivid image and is extremely rare. The main body is carved from a huge piece of nanmu wood, and behind it are 1004 hands in a fan shape, with an eye on each hand. It is also called "Thousand-Armed and Thousand-Eyed Guanyin."
