Back from Pingtan, no longer listening to the nonsense on Xiaohongshu

Don’t wait until you get to Pingtan to find out these things! Do your research in advance! Bring sunscreen and the right clothes!! Before you come, make sure to clarify your purpose: are you here to take photos and check in, or to immerse yourself in the travel experience? Some attractions are only good for check-ins, to prove you’ve been to Pingtan! Many popular spots have pitfalls, here’s a summary of our experience to help you avoid them. - Watch out for these pitfalls: Pitfall 1️⃣: Don’t navigate directly to “Changjiang’ao” windmill field!! You’ll end up in a muddy area. The correct navigation is “Changjiang’ao Wind Power Field Scenic Area,” which takes you straight to the coastline under the windmills. Sunset there is amazing!! (Check the sunset time in advance so you don’t miss it) Pitfall 2️⃣: No blue tears (bioluminescent plankton) this season, they only appear in April-May. Don’t believe roadside tout drivers!! They say “100% blue tears tonight” or “Take my car and I’ll bring you to the best spot,” but they charge exorbitant fees. Don’t trust them!! Pitfall 3️⃣: Pingtan’s transportation mainly relies on taxis, ride-hailing, or shared bikes (which can be troublesome if you go out of the service area). You can also rent an electric scooter yourself. Never take illegal taxis. On the north route, we couldn’t get a taxi and took an illegal one by the roadside. They said 60 yuan when we got in, but charged 100 yuan when we got off… Pitfall 4️⃣: When renting an electric scooter, record a video! Walk around the scooter three times to capture scratches and condition, especially brakes and battery level! This prevents disputes when returning. Be sure to pay attention ⚠️ Pitfall 5️⃣: Northern Cultural and Creative Village!! This spot deserves a special mention. Because I like buying creative products, I braved the hot sun to bike there. As everyone said, the products are all the same—items you can buy at every attraction. There’s no unique scenery. If you’re not very free on time, you can really skip it… Pitfall 6️⃣: Seafood “market price” trap! When dining at seafood restaurants with live seafood tanks, always ask the price of each dish before ordering! - 💡Pingtan Accommodation We stayed three days at “Pingtan Surprise Unintentional Retro Designer Hotel.” It’s right in the county center, very convenient for food and drinks nearby. They serve afternoon tea daily, which lifts your mood. It’s a great spot for girls to take photos, the rooms are perfect, with many disposable items including bath towels. All free. Highly recommended. I will strongly recommend it to friends traveling here in the future. - 🚗Transportation: High-speed train direct to Fuzhou, recommend renting a car or electric scooter on the island 📅Itinerary: 3 days 2 nights is enough to cover the highlights (north route + south route) 👗Outfit: White/bright long dresses, straw hats, sunglasses, sunscreen is a must! 🌤️Weather: Sunny days are the most beautiful, but the black sand beach looks more sophisticated on cloudy days～ - ⚠️Beach travel depends heavily on weather. It’s best to choose a big sunny day to go out☀️ UV rays are strong, remember to protect your skin～
