Pinghu Mo's Manor, Zhejiang

Pinghu Mo's Manor is one of the six great halls of Jiangnan (Mo's Manor, Master of the Nets Garden, Caiyi Hall, Lu Residence, Tuisi Garden, and Chun Zai Lou). It has stood for three centuries and is a national key cultural relic protection unit, a national AAA-level tourist attraction, and a Jiaxing City Civilized Tourist Attraction. Mo's Manor was built by Mo Fangmei, a wealthy gentleman from Pinghu, during the late Qing Dynasty in the 23rd year of the Guangxu reign (1897). The entire project took three years to complete, costing 100,000 taels of silver, and was completed in 1899. It is a large, enclosed ancient residential complex. The entire manor covers an area of seven acres, with a building area of 2,600 square meters and 77 rooms of various sizes. The entire manor is well-organized, with buildings of varying heights, creating a harmonious and natural beauty that showcases the beauty of ancient Chinese architecture. Its complete architecture, rich artifacts, and typical style are unique in Jiangnan, earning widespread praise and acclaim from both domestic and foreign tourists, and earning it the nickname "The Forbidden City of Jiangnan."
