Iconic Buddha Head In Tree Roots

Among the many interesting temples in this complex, Wat Phra Mahathat (Temple of the Great Relics) is one of temple that caught my attention the most. It turned out this temple is located almost in the middle of the Ayutthaya Historical Park island complex. And only in this temple we can see the very famous Buddha in an unusual pose. How did the Buddha head entwined within the roots of a tree? Nobody knows exactly.
