The picturesque town of Perast

Perast is a coastal town located on the northern shore of the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. Although the town is small in size, it boasts 16 churches and 17 palaces of various sizes. The town is built facing the sea, with a winding path along the coast. Waves occasionally crash against the roadside, where tourists and vehicles coexist harmoniously. The time spent in this town is the most tranquil moment of this trip. Perast has two unique islands, known as the 'Twin Islands of the Lake.' One of the islands is called Our Lady of the Rocks, meaning the Madonna on the Reef or the Madonna on the Rock. Visitors can take a speedboat to the island for a tour. According to legend, in the 15th century, a miraculous Madonna statue was discovered on the reef, prompting the people of Perast to decide to build a church there. They began piling stones and shipwreck fragments to create this man-made island. The European-style church with its light blue roof, situated between the mountains and the sea, is breathtakingly beautiful. It is said to protect fishermen on their voyages. The other island is called St. George Island. This is a natural island, currently a private island, and is not open to the public.
