|Our Lady of the Rocks (1365). The Our Lady of the Rocks in Kotor, Montenegro, originally a rock in the sea, is expanded every year on July 22nd by local residents who throw rocks into the sea from their fishing boats, gradually forming a rock fortress. The tradition of throwing rocks into the sea is still ongoing. In 1632, a Roman Catholic church was established on the island, building a church of Our Lady, which is said to protect fishermen when they go out to sea.
