Zoo in Opole

A visit to the zoo is always a great idea to spend time in the Opole Zoo, picturesquely situated on the Bolko Island, has been attracting crowds of tourists and nature lovers for many years. There are many endangered species devoid of natural habitats in the local farm. The zoo in Opole was established in the 1930s. The very charming Island Bolko on the Odra River, on which the park was located at the time, was chosen as the location. To this day, the island has retained its recreational character, with walking and cycling paths running through it. The present zoo covers an area of ​​about 20 ha, and is home to over 1,200 animals from 265 species. Much attention is paid to activities aimed at restoring the population of animals threatened with extinction. Due to the flood in 1997, part of the garden was destroyed and had to be rebuilt. Thanks to this, however, it is now one of the most modern facilities of this type in Poland, which you must visit! The zoo is divided into zoogeographic lands, where animals from individual continents are exhibited. So here we have the South American Catwalk with colorful parrots, pumas and jaguars, the Asian Steppe with camels, Chinese munters and pelicans, the African Savannah with zebras, pygmy hippos, giraffes and rhinoceros, and Australia with kangaroos, wallabies, poturu and emu. Of course, that's not all, in other parts of the garden you can also see sea lions, gorillas, various species of birds, reptiles, amphibians and arthropods.
