Ginzan Hot Spring

Yamagata Prefecture Located in the eastern part of Obanazawa City, upstream of the Ginzan Reservoir. The Ginzan River flows through it, and three- and four-story wooden hotels built in the 20th century stand side by side under gas lamps. In the 16th century, the silver mine of Nobizawa Silver Mine, one of the three largest silver mines in Japan, was discovered, and it developed as a mining town in the Edo period (1603-1867). The milky white spring water mixed with tiny waves warms the body from the inside out. There are two shared baths here, "Ginyu" and "Oyu", and there are also free foot baths. There is a nationally designated historic site called the Silver Mine Cave nearby, which commemorates the prosperity of the silver mine.
