A millennium of history from a village to a big city

Andalucia Tour ~ Huelva (Region) A millennial village located on a hilltop overlooking the Tinto River. Its most impressive feature is the two-kilometer-long city wall that completely covers the perimeter of the city. The city within the walls has retained some of its ancient layout and has some remarkable buildings, such as the Castle of the Counts of Niebla; the Church of Santa María de Granada, an old Byzantine cathedral that was later converted into an Arab mosque but only in the 16th century was it transformed into a Gothic-Mudéjar Christian church; and the Church of San Martín, which was built on top of the western mosque and only the old apse and rear facade remain.
