You need to know the history of Nara and Todaiji before entering the temple and Nara park. These places were the spots where buddism was initially came to Japan in 奈良时代。 Not many buildings have longer history than Todaiji temple. I cycled to the park using a rented bicycle and it saved me a lot of effort and time to mount the hills. Tourist travelling alone should try also this for a unforgettable experience. Dont miss the museum next to the temple as many statues with great history are exhibited. Photos were not allowed to be taken and the only chance for you is to go in personnally. Keep yourself calm and clean, you will enjoy this place even if you are not a buddhist.
