Naples in 2 days - History and Heritage

Naples was the first stop for our mother and son pair 2 weeks trip to Italy. We were only spending 2 days here before we went to Rome, so it was quite a packed itinerary. Our B&B, DomisCarmela was located at the heart of the Spanish Quarters, and took a 20mins transfer from the airport to the place. There was a bit of apprehension about Naples, from friends and online talking about the cleanliness and crime of the city. The city however, was actually quite clean, and we felt generally safe there. The streets were quite quiet and there wasn't much people in the morning, but when afternoon came, the streets were very crowded. Everywhere we wanted to go was quite accessible, and we walked to majority of the sites, with an exception to Castel Sant Elmo where we had to take a funicular up and down from the city. We spent the whole day walking around, taking in the lovely culture of the streets, visiting world class museums and having delicious local food. We even went for a tour of the underground network underneath Naples, which was well documented and explained by our local guide. Overall, it was a great start and exposure to our Italy trip, and I recommend naples to anyone thinking of coming. We could have spend 1-2 more days so as to enjoy the place even more, but we felt that it was enough. Off the Rome next! #naples #travel #italy
