Jinling Arsenal Site: A Century-old Industrial Heritage and New Chapter of Creative Industry

The Jinling Arsenal Site is located on the east side of the Nanjing Dabaoen Temple Heritage Park, and is now the Nanjing Morningside 1865 Science and Technology Creative Industry Park. It was built in the fourth year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1865), formerly known as the Jinling Machine Manufacturing Bureau. It is one of the four major arsenals in China, and the largest modern industrial building complex in China, with important industrial and historical value. The site covers an area of 50,000 square meters, with 7 buildings from the Qing Dynasty and 23 buildings from the Republic of China period. In history, the Jinling Arsenal Site was not only the first modern mechanized factory in Nanjing, but also an important place for the Nanjing local party organization of the Communist Party of China to carry out the workers' movement. Today, it has been listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit and has become part of the list of China's industrial heritage protection.
