🏠Introduction to Jiming Temple: 👉Also known as Ancient Jiming Temple, it was built in the first year of Yongkang in the Western Jin Dynasty (300 AD) and has a history of more than 1,700 years. It is one of the oldest Buddhist temples and royal temples in Nanjing. The incense has always been prosperous and has never declined. It has been known as the "First Temple of the Southern Dynasty" and the "First of the 480 Temples of the Southern Dynasty" since ancient times. During the Southern Dynasty, it was as famous as Qixia Temple and Dingshan Temple, and was the center of Buddhism in China during the Southern Dynasty! 👉The history of Jiming Temple can be traced back to Qixuan Temple in the Eastern Wu Dynasty. The site of the temple was the back garden of the Wu State during the Three Kingdoms period; in the first year of Yongkang in the Western Jin Dynasty, a house was built against the mountain here, and the Taoist field was created; after the Eastern Jin Dynasty, this place was used as a court; in the first year of Datong in the Southern Liang Dynasty (527 AD), Emperor Liang Wu built Tongtai Temple in Jiming Dam, and he "gave up his body" here four times, and issued the "Alcohol and Meat Cutting Article" in the temple, which was the beginning of vegetarianism in Buddhism, making this place a Buddhist holy place from then on.
