The Dabaoen Temple Site Park is located at No. 1 Yuhua Road, outside Zhonghua Gate, Qinhuai District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. Dabaoen Temple was built by Zhu Di, the Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty, in memory of Zhu Yuanzhang, the Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, and Empress Ma. It is the oldest Buddhist temple in Chinese history. - Historical evolution: The predecessor of Dabaoen Temple was the Jianchu Temple and Ashoka Pagoda built during the Chiwu period of the Eastern Wu Dynasty (238-250). It was the first Buddhist temple established in southern China and was known as one of the three major temples in Jinling together with Linggu Temple and Tianjie Temple. In the sixth year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1408 AD), Zhu Di, the Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty, built a temple and a glazed pagoda on the site of Tianxi Temple in memory of his parents, and Dabaoen Temple was officially named. In 2007, Nanjing officially launched the reconstruction project of Dabaoen Temple Site Park, and the exhibition was opened in 2015. Modern technology: The entire site park covers an area of about 140,000 square meters, of which the first phase is the core area of Dabaoen Temple Site Park, including the site protection area, Dabaoen Temple Site Museum, and Dabaoen Pagoda.
