Chunxi Old Street

Chunxi Old Street, also known as Gaochun Old Street, is located in the southwest of Chunxi Ancient Town, Gaochun District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, with a total area of about 7.6 hectares. The history of Chunxi Old Street can be traced back to the market established during the Song Dynasty, with a history of more than 900 years. Chunxi Old Street features buildings such as the Wu Family Ancestral Hall, Yang Hall, Guanwang Temple, Jinhu Bridge built in the Ming Dynasty, and an ancient well from the Qianlong period. The old street is lined with clusters of Ming and Qing dynasty buildings along the water, with white walls and black tiles, complemented by simple and elegant brick, wood, and stone carvings, as well as traditional calligraphy plaques. It is praised by scholars and tourists from home and abroad as a 'microcosm of Eastern civilization' and a 'treasure trove of ancient architectural art.' In October 2002, Chunxi Old Street was announced as a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangsu Province by the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government.
