Along the way, they stopped to rest at Don Makham, where Phra That Kham Kaen is currently located, where there was a large tamarind tree that had died and only the core remained. They took the relics of the Buddha and placed them on the core. The next morning, they headed to the construction site of Phra That Phanom. When they arrived, it turned out that Phra That Phanom had been completed, so they had to take the relics of the Buddha back along the same route, intending to bring them back to their home city of Morey. When they returned to Don Makham where they had stayed overnight, they saw the tamarind tree that had died and only the core remained. With the revival of green leaves, it is amazing. Therefore, they jointly built a pagoda covering the tamarind tree and enshrined the ashes and Buddha images inside. They named it “Phra That Kham Kaen” and built a temple as a residence for the 9 Arahants alongside the pagoda.
