In 1194, Utsunomiya Ueno, a retainer of the Shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo, and Aso Shigeyuki were granted 3,000 cho of land in Onga-gun and Kurate-gun, Chikuzen Province, for their achievements in defeating the Taira clan.
