🇯🇵 [Ehime Prefecture] Daihoji Temple, designated as a national treasure! (^^) Daihoji Temple is a Shingon sect temple in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, and is said to have been founded by Ochi Tamaoki during the Taiho era (701-703). During the Edo period, it became a place of prayer for the lord of Matsuyama, and in 1685, the main hall was repaired by Matsudaira Sadanao, the fourth lord of the Matsudaira clan. The main hall has three bays (front) and four bays, and is covered with real tiles and has a hipped roof, using the Amida Hall style from the late Heian period. It is the oldest Japanese-style building in the prefecture, estimated to have been built in the early Kamakura period, and is designated as a national treasure.
