【Half-Hour Flight Adventure!】 | Mirimulu

| Mirimulu. Imagine a short half-hour flight that turns into a visual feast! 🌟 Unlike the luxury of business class, the propeller plane takes you through the troposphere, with mountains and rivers in full view. But don't forget to hold on tight; the turbulence is no less thrilling than a roller coaster! 😱 Remember the tense atmosphere during that time with Malaysia Airlines? Luckily, it was quite reliable, with spacious seats and delicious snacks, making the short flight feel ceremonial! 🥜 👉 Mulu Airport, unbelievably tiny! One tarmac, one plane, a few passengers, and the island's daily supplies. Only two flights a day, fully loaded in and out. The luggage is pulled by a small broken car, and it was my first time seeing the entire luggage loading and unloading process! 😂 But don't underestimate it; it has a luggage carousel with everything you need, just that we can see the other end. 👀 Haha! Truly transparent operations~ 😄 In such a remote place, you must have a pickup service, or you might get lost. The small village is scattered with several households and a very upscale hotel—the Marriott. Our 'Mulu Village' is right next to the Marriott, and sometimes we can even use their internet, enjoying a small blessing of modern civilization, as there is no signal here. 🌈 🏡 Down a small slope, on a lush green lawn, are a few cozy cottages, clean and bright. This is our residence~ Meeting the male host James and the female host Brenda made the Malaysian style more vivid. 🙏 James is a local Malay. Despite his simple appearance and constant bed sheet washing, he is actually good at singing and dancing and takes great photos. Brenda is a Chinese nurse who used to work and live in Singapore. Now she has returned to Mulu, running this farmhouse? Homestay? (Anyway, the land belongs to James's ancestors) No wonder Chinese people are smart; Brenda has a tour guide license! The only bilingual guide in the park, which was a pleasant surprise for us. 👩‍💼 A long-tail boat can dock in the river channel in front of the door, so you don't have to run to the tourist hall every time. (You still need to go the first time to get a ticket, 30 MYR for 5 days. The ticket is a waterproof wristband that cannot be removed, which I still cherish, as it holds significant meaning. 🎟️) ✨✨ In Mulu, every guest becomes a familiar friend, sharing this unique experience under the same sky, regardless of nationality. 🌟 As night falls, Brenda shared the 'unique philosophy' of Malays. Dishes can only be stir-fried one by one, not combined and then divided into small portions, which is inefficient compared to our understanding of the world. To build these small houses, Brenda had to contact numerous government departments, sometimes during lunch breaks, sometimes during prayers, and it was unclear what materials were needed. She had to run back and forth, day after day. All of this forms the background music of island life. 🎵 🌴 This small island has no electricity, no hot water, no signal, and no normal transportation. It's unclear if it's for protection or due to government inaction. Every day relies on hydropower equipment, timed and rationed, mainly from 7 PM to 9 PM, primarily for charging phones and cameras. 🛀 After a day's walk, wanting a comfortable hot shower is impossible. Cold rain splashes randomly on your face... It is really cold, as the river water is directly purified for use. Even the enthusiastic sun can't warm its heart... Although I bathe every day, I always feel unclean. The next day, I apply sunscreen again, eww~ 🌞 This is Mulu, a secluded paradise away from the hustle and bustle. 🌿
