The Kelabit Highlands

One of the most interesting places to visit in Bario includes the plane wreckage and the 'I ❤️ Bario' signage. Plane wreckage (right in front of Nancy's Homestay) According to local history, during the confrontation war between Malaysia and Indonesia in the 1960s, this plane was carrying food aid supplies for the residents here and crashed because it hit a tree. 🔸Bario Longhouse The longhouses here are very unique and still well-preserved. Bario Asal Lembaa Longhouse is the first longhouse in Bario, uniquely featuring 22 doors with traditional Kelabit layout, each house having its own kitchen and living room. 🔸D'nalin Eco Farm Here they sell pineapple chili sauce, organic Bario rice, and dried Bario pineapples. The owner is very kind, treating us with delicious fruits (passion fruit, tampoi, Bario pineapple). We were hunting for Bario pineapples but it wasn't the season, and coincidentally the owner had one left. Subhanallah, the Bario pineapple was incredibly delicious. We usually don't eat pineapples but this one made us go WOW😂. If it's in season, we would definitely buy a lot to take back to the peninsula. 🔸I love Bario signage (Bukit Korea) To reach the signage, you need to hike a bit, but once you get to the top, you can see the village view.
