Mangshi is a small but worthwhile destination, with the Menghuan Silver Pagoda

The Menghuan Silver Pagoda and Menghuan Golden Pagoda are located on adjacent peaks of Leiyaran Mountain in Mangshi, with a straight-line distance of 600 meters between them. Both are Dai-style pagodas with similar appearances, but the Golden Pagoda is hollow while the Silver Pagoda is solid. The Silver Pagoda was completed in 2013, and the scenic area is divided into the Sign Language Area, Zhengjue Square Area, Pagoda Shadow Area, and Main Pagoda Area from north to south. The Sign Language Area is at the foot of the mountain and features a group of silver-white sculptures. Visitors enter the scenic area along a white marble lotus road, with the stone lotus underfoot symbolizing beauty. On both sides are 24 gesture sculptures, each with its own meaning. The Dai people "use hand gestures," but the scenic area does not interpret whether other gestures resemble the handprints of Buddhas or Bodhisattvas, possibly because the theme is traditional Dai culture. In the Zhengjue Square Area, the base of the Zhengjue Pillar is supported by four lions. Zhengjue means true enlightenment, and only those with a righteous heart, righteous actions, and righteous enlightenment can comprehend the truth and gain wisdom. The Pagoda Shadow Area uses scenery to create shadows, with water as a mirror and a mirror wall as a backdrop. The Silver Wheel Pagoda has four layers supporting the silver wheel, surrounded by 20 small pagodas with spires made of Dai silver. There is a procession of white elephants, representing the Dai people's elephant worship culture, and a treasure vase symbolizing "peace." The main pagoda in the Main Pagoda Area is 66 meters high and 46 meters in diameter, with a silver-white body surrounded by 80 small pagodas. The pagoda's decorations and spires are hand-carved from Dai silver and silver-plated materials, appearing solemn and sacred in the sunlight. The Menghuan Silver Pagoda embodies Dai craftsmanship and is a typical representative of Mangshi's ethnic architectural art. Strolling or sitting quietly among the flowers can bring inner peace.
