MGM Macau's Zodiac Heads Exhibition: Curatorial Excellence Beyond the Artifacts

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macau's return to China, we owe thanks to Pansy Ho for allowing us to view four precious zodiac heads from the Old Summer Palace. Among them, the horse and pig heads were auctioned by Stanley Ho and donated to the Old Summer Palace. 1. Interior Design: Beyond the artifacts, the venue's interior is particularly stunning, featuring Afghan white jade, Amazon green luxury stone, and French red silk marble used as floor tiles. 2. Display Cases: The display cases are made from the finest materials, with lighting and reflections carefully managed to ensure the glass is non-reflective. 3. Background: The backdrop for the four zodiac heads is a digital recreation of the Haiyantang from the Old Summer Palace, blending reality with virtual elements and modern with ancient, creating a strong sense of time travel. While the materials appear expensive, the craftsmanship is even more so. Simply piling up materials does not equate to luxury. Many hotels may look opulent but lack the sophisticated ideology and aesthetic accumulation of old money to truly present luxury.
