Luxor Temple (6)

After passing through the first courtyard, visitors enter a colonnade composed of 7 pairs of papyrus bundle columns. Shortly after the entrance of the colonnade, there are statues of pharaohs on both sides, followed by a pair of seated statues depicting Amun and Mut. Although these statues bear the name of Ramses, stylistically they should have been made during the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. The walls on both sides of the colonnade are decorated with scenes of the Opet Festival. Behind the colonnade is a courtyard built by Amenhotep III. It is also surrounded on three sides by double rows of papyrus columns. To the south of the second courtyard, there is a hypostyle hall supported by 4x8 columns. Its reliefs depict Amenhotep III before the gods of Thebes and his coronation. On either side, there are small temples dedicated to Mut and Khonsu respectively.
