Karnak Temple

The Karnak Temple (Arabic: معبد الكرنك, maebad alkurnak) was first built over 3,900 years ago and is located in the northern part of the Egyptian city of Luxor. It is a spectacular temple left behind by the ancient Egyptian empire. The temple contains more than 20 shrines of various sizes, 134 giant stone columns, sphinxes with ram heads, and other ancient relics, all of which are grand and awe-inspiring. The Karnak Temple is part of the capital Thebes during the Middle Kingdom and New Kingdom periods of Egypt. It is the worship center of the sun god Amun and the largest temple site in ancient Egypt. In addition to the main temple dedicated to Amun, there are also temples dedicated to Khonsu, the son of Amun, and Mut, the wife of Amun.
