Traveling with books, I checked in at White Horse Temple!

A friend of mine is from Yanshi, and it takes less than 20 minutes to get to White Horse Temple and Erlitou Site Museum of the Xia Capital from his home. It is said that White Horse Temple is always crowded. If you want to experience the history of the ancient temple, it is best to arrive at the entrance of White Horse Temple before 8:30 am. The temple has just opened, and there are not many people. You don't have to wait in line to enter. Arriving early can help you avoid the crowds. The visit to White Horse Temple can be divided into three parts: ① Ancient Chinese architecture ② Buddhist halls of Thailand, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka, and other countries ③ Qiyun Pagoda and Di Renjie Tomb. The overall tour route is as follows: Mountain Gate → Hall of Heavenly Kings → Mahavira Hall → Thousand Buddha Hall → Reception Hall → Cool Terrace → Silent Tea House → Thai Buddhist Hall → Myanmar Buddhist Hall → Indian Buddhist Hall → Qiyun Pagoda → Di Renjie Tomb. The whole route takes about 2 hours at a leisurely pace. Special tips: ① Di Renjie's tomb is on the way to Qiyun Pagoda. The ancient temple is surrounded by trees, so it is easy to miss it if you are not careful. We also found it after searching carefully after the whole tour. ② There is a mysterious "frog croak" phenomenon at Qiyun Pagoda. When you stand 20 meters in front of the pagoda and clap your hands, you will hear a "croak" echo! This is similar to the frog croak at Pujiu Temple in Yuncheng. Locals say, "There is a golden toad on the pagoda, and you can hear it but not see it." Qiyun Pagoda has a long history and was built 200 years earlier than the Echo Wall of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. ③ Silent Tea House: Tea is free. As the name suggests, it is best not to speak loudly or not to speak at all. ④ Adjust your itinerary according to your purpose. If you just want to take photos, it is recommended to go straight to the International Buddhist Hall area after the ticket check. You can get a good spot and take photos first, then take a leisurely tour. Other notes: ① Self-driving: Navigate to "White Horse Temple Parking Lot" + Sightseeing Bus (CNY 10 round trip). The entrance is relatively chaotic, and there are many vendors. Be sure to look for the signs carefully. Be cautious when buying goods. Taxi: Get off at South Gate 2 and walk to the South Gate for ticket check. Bus: Take Bus 56/58 to the terminal and walk to the South Gate for ticket check. ② Buy bracelets at the "Legal Affairs Circulation Office" on the left side of the mountain gate. Be careful when buying outside the temple! ③ Erlitou Site Museum of the Xia Capital is only a 14-minute drive from White Horse Temple. There are also tourist lines and buses. It is one of the most remarkable ancient cultural sites in China. It is recommended to visit after White Horse Temple.
