The National Museum in Lublin, until 2020 The Lublin Museum in Lublin - the museum in Lublin is one of the oldest and largest museums in eastern Poland. It has four branches in Lublin and as many out-of-town branches. The main seat of the museum and most of its branches are high-class monuments. In 1957, the Museum moved to part of the premises of the Castle in Lublin, of which it became the sole host in 1974. Many permanent thematic exhibitions can be seen here. These are: an archaeological exhibition, an exhibition of coins and medals from the 10th to the 20th century, folk art of the Lublin region, a gallery of Polish painting from the 17th to the 20th century (including "Unia Lubelska" by Jan Matejko), as well as foreign painting from the 17th century to the 19th century (including "Pilate Washing His Hands" by Hendrick ter Brugghen). The armaments exhibition presents militaria in a time section from the Middle Ages to World War II, and the gallery of decorative arts presents silverware, ceramics, clocks, furniture and fabrics. In the Castle there is also the Chapel of the Holy Trinity founded by King Władysław Jagiełło with priceless Byzantine-Ruthenian paintings from 1418. #poland #museum #lublin
