Radisson Blu Polar Hotel, Spitsbergen, the world's northernmost brand hotel

The hotel is located on a huge archipelago within the Arctic Circle. Resources are scarce, and many supplies need to be brought in from outside. The area is covered in ice and snow year-round, making transportation a challenge. It's not easy to open a hotel or brand store here, let alone a branded hotel with group standards and service offerings. Given this, I didn't have high hopes for the service, and it turned out I was right. However, the magical Arctic scenery makes everything else pale in comparison. Longyearbyen's recreational activities are divided into long and short trips. Long trips involve one or two weeks on a cruise ship, circling Svalbard for sightseeing. Short trips are day trips. Longyearbyen itself is not large, and you can easily explore it on foot in a day. The city has a simple layout. Heading west from the main entrance of the hotel, you'll find the main street with souvenir shops, clothing stores, government offices, and tour companies. Many side streets branch off from the main street, lined with residential buildings. At the end of the main street, where the buildings end, there's an art gallery. Beyond the gallery, the road leads out of town—an area where you shouldn't venture alone, as you might encounter polar bears.
