In the small coastal town in the first month of the year, the sky is slightly gloomy with occasional drizzles. This was once the seat of Taizhou Prefecture, and the city walls, ancient neighborhoods and folk culture are relatively well preserved. Although it is still chilly in spring, there is still a huge crowd of people. The tour starts from Chonghemen Square. The eastern section of Taizhou city wall has been basically demolished. Passing through Chonghemen from east to west into the ancient city, you first come to Taizhou Confucian Temple to pay homage to the eternal teacher, and then stroll south along Ziyang Ancient Street. The residential buildings on Ziyang Street have some old-time charm. Although there are many shops in the street market, the degree of commercialization is not too high. The small shops on both sides mainly sell local snacks such as seaweed cakes, egg white lamb tails, plum cakes, pickled shrimps, etc. The former site of the People's Bank of China and the Zhu Ziqing Memorial Hall are also worth a visit. At the end of Ziyang Street is Xingshang Gate, near which are attractions such as Longxing Temple, Tianning Temple and Jinshan Park. After a quick tour, you can climb up the Taizhou City Wall from Xingshang Gate and start your journey to the Jiangnan Great Wall. The city wall from Xingshangmen to Chaotianmen is relatively flat, and is mainly used to enjoy the view of Lingjiang River, and the scenery is also relatively plain; from Chaotianmen to Lanshengmen, the city wall is built against the mountain and beside the water, with ups and downs, and winding. Enemy towers one to eight are connected one after another, and the city wall forms such as urn city, horse-faced castle, and artillery platform are all available. In the plum garden, plum blossoms of various varieties such as Gulihong, Gongfen, Zhusha, Fandie and Canxue are in full bloom, with refreshing fragrance. Together with the city wall, they form a beautiful spring picture. The city wall from Xingshang Gate to Lansheng Gate is about 4 kilometers long. It takes about three hours to walk along the way, stopping frequently. Looking down from the highest point, Baiyun Tower, you can have a panoramic view of Linhai City. The beautiful East Lake, which is like a Jiangnan water town, is also right in front of you. There is also a statue of national hero Qi Jiguang under the Lansheng Gate Tower. If you go in the opposite direction, from Lansheng Gate to Baiyun Tower, you will need to climb hundreds of steps in a row, and the slope is quite steep, so the elderly, young and weak should be careful. The Jiangnan Great Wall is worthy of its reputation as the majestic tower in the southeast.
