Mufu

Mufu, also known as the Mu Clan Tusi Yamen, is located on Guangyuan Alley, Guanyi Street, Dayan Subdistrict, Gucheng District, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. Originally the official residence of the Mu clan, the hereditary rulers of Lijiang, Mufu's construction began in the Yuan Dynasty and flourished during the Ming Dynasty. The main structures were built during the reign of Mu De in the Ming Dynasty. Mufu reflects the style of central Chinese architecture of the Ming Dynasty while retaining the simplicity and ruggedness of Tang and Song Dynasty architecture. The crisscrossing canals and flowing water within the compound are a testament to the spirit of traditional Naxi culture. Along its central axis, Mufu features structures built according to the terrain, including the Zhongyi Archway, Yimen Gate, the Front Assembly Hall, the Wànjuàn Tower, the Dharma Protector Hall, the Guangbi Tower, the Yuyin Tower, the Sanqing Hall, side halls, attics, a stage, a gatehouse, family courtyards, corridors, and post stations.
