Long residing in the city, I find myself yearning for the ancient villages deep in the mountains every weekend, to clear my mind. I long for the sunsets there, the mountain peaks, and the unique charm of the ethnic minorities. My only wish is to spend a comfortable night there, enjoying a short two-day trip. After some consideration, I chose the Thousand-Year Yao Village and Youling Yao Village in Guangdong. Overall, although the Thousand-Year Yao Village has a slightly more commercial atmosphere, it boasts beautiful scenery. Climbing up the long stairs, one can gaze at the continuous mountain peaks, and the accommodation facilities are quite comprehensive. Youling Yao Village, on the other hand, is more pristine, with bonfire parties in the evening that offer a sense of tranquility as if cut off from the world. The Thousand-Year Yao Village mainly consists of one main street, which can be explored in about 30 minutes on foot. While the playability is limited, the atmosphere is relaxed and very suitable for easing one's mood, not the kind of place for a rushed visit. The address is in Qingyuan, Guangzhou, with ticket prices around 100 yuan. It is recommended to drive there for convenience.
