Wat Mahathat Chedi Si Wiang Chai According to legend, before the construction of Phra Mahathat Chedi Si Wiang Chai at this temple, Luang Pu Kru Ba Chaiyawongsa Phatthana found cow dung of the Lord Buddha when he was a Bodhisattva cow. This cow dung turned into a sacred relic. Luang Pu Kru Ba Chaiyawongsa Phatthana intended to build a great chedi to cover it at this place, fearing that in the future, if nothing was done to this sacred place, villagers would unknowingly build houses to live there. This is how this temple was born. Phra Mahathat Chedi Si Wiang Chai is shaped like a replica of Shwedagon. It is considered a Buddhist architecture in Lanna art made of laterite with a base width equal to 1 rai and a height of 64.39 meters. Luang Pu Kruba Chaiyawongsa Phatthana was the initiator of the design and construction of the pagoda of the 5 Buddhas, which will be the pagoda of the Bhadrakalpa for Thai descendants to worship as the first in Thailand and the second in the world.
