You absolutely MUST stay at this hotel when you come to Lhasa!!!

In-depth experience at the Lhasa InterContinental: A comfortable choice on the plateau I chose the Lhasa InterContinental for my first stop in Tibet mainly because of the spacious rooms, the supplemental oxygen provided in all rooms at night, and the fact that the ambassador and executive treatment took care of breakfast and dinner. It turned out to be a great choice with several highlights, although there were a few minor issues. 💰️Cost per person The off-season price is very affordable, only CNY 400-500, offering excellent value for money. However, prices can double due to events like the Peach Blossom Festival. I recommend checking the tourist seasons when booking to get the best price. 🛌Amenities/Facilities The hotel is huge. The lobby and the two wings of guest rooms resemble connected pyramids. The lobby, with its extremely high glass ceiling, is like a tourist attraction itself, featuring a fully open dining area and various shops. The interior decor leans towards European or palatial luxury, with extensive use of gold, similar to the InterContinental style of the 90s and 00s. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning that works like heating, allowing temperatures up to 35 degrees Celsius. However, the windows only open slightly, leading to stuffiness in some rooms. The Wi-Fi signal in the rooms is weak, and the hot water supply can be slow at times. The supplemental oxygen isn't very effective in larger spaces like suites. The lounge was closed, so afternoon tea was served in the lobby bar. Happy hour was a buffet, which was quite extensive, with a large screen showing song and dance performances, and offering hot pot, barbecue, and other delicacies. However, the freshness of some ingredients wasn't ideal due to Lhasa's geographical location. 🏘️️️Room Type/Layout I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a one-bedroom suite, which was a spacious 100 square meters. Most of the space was allocated to the living room and the bathroom with a jacuzzi, while the bedroom was relatively small. The overall layout was reasonable, meeting both leisure and relaxation needs. 🧹Soundproofing/Cleanliness The hotel provides a quiet and clean living environment. The cleanliness should meet InterContinental brand standards. 💗Other tips 1. Service Experience: The guest relations center contacted me in advance and readily agreed to my room upgrade request, directly upgrading me to a premium one-bedroom suite. The front desk staff inquired about my arrival time in Tibet and emphasized health precautions. Molly escorted me to my room, providing attentive service. 2. Dining Experience: The breakfast was a bit ordinary compared to other InterContinental brands, but still decent. The happy hour buffet was extensive, and it was a pleasant surprise to be able to eat seafood on the plateau. 3. Location: There are no scenic spots nearby. It's about 7-8 km from the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple, which isn't too far. Taxis are readily available, and ride-hailing services are quick to respond. 4. Hotel Features: All rooms provide supplemental oxygen at night, which is very helpful for travelers new to the plateau, alleviating altitude sickness discomfort. The hotel is large and has extensive facilities.
