While Nigeria is the second-largest oil-producing country in Africa, with oil exports being a significant source of national revenue, propelling the country to be one of Africa's stronger economies, Lagos takes pride in a different industry. It is not the oil that Lagos is most renowned for, but rather its thriving film industry. The Nigerian film industry, often referred to as Nollywood, is a major employer, second only to the agricultural sector, with over one million people working in it. The film industry's contribution to Nigeria's GDP is substantial, ranking second behind oil and agriculture. Nollywood, the film production hub, is based in Lagos, making it a cultural and economic powerhouse in Africa.
