Tenmangu Shrine with Sugawara Michizane as a deity

#aprilblooms It is an old shrine with a history of more than 1,000 years since it was founded in 947 (Tenryaku Yuan) in the middle of the Heian period, and the head office of 12,000 Tenmangu Shrine and Tenjin Shrines nationwide with Sugawara Michizane as their deities. It is the birthplace of Tenjin faith and has been known as "Kitano's Tenjin-san" and "Kitano-san". Since Kanko, who was an outstanding scholar and politician in the Heian period, is enshrined, he has a strong faith as a god of learning, and many examinees from all over the country come to pray for success. The shrine, including the main hall and the worship hall where Suga-ko was enshrined, is the oldest in Japan in the eight-built building (Gongen-zuke). The current building was built by Hideyori Toyotomi in 1607 (Keicho 12), and is designated as a national treasure as a valuable relic of shrine architecture that retains the gorgeous and luxurious style of the Momoyama period. The Sankomon Gate, which stands between the tower gate and the worship hall, also has the same architectural style of the Momoyama period as the shrine. It is a nationally designated important cultural property and is known as a symbolic building of the palace.
