An Afternoon Shower at Kiyomizu-dera: A Serene Journey

The sudden afternoon shower made us linger a bit longer on the Kiyomizu stage. Listening to the rapid raindrops hitting the umbrella and the hurried footsteps of people seeking shelter under the eaves, it felt like a joyful gathering. At the same time, the air was filled with the fresh scent of soil and damp leaves. The stone steps became slippery, adding a touch of mystery and tranquility to the ancient temple and the surrounding forest. Watching the wooden structure of the distant temple appear and disappear in the rain, we could quietly appreciate this historical sanctuary, as if time had turned back, allowing us to experience the harmony of this land with ancient Zen practitioners. After the rain cleared, we walked to Otowa Waterfall, where the sound of the spring water became even clearer, as if the raindrops had washed away the dust of the world. The fresh air carried a hint of sweetness, and the spring water flowed gently between the rocks like a soft melody, a pure gift from nature. It is said that drinking this spring water brings health, wisdom, and longevity. At that moment, we took a sip, feeling its coolness and sweetness, and our hearts were filled with tranquility and gratitude.
