Park Hyatt Kyoto | Always imitated, never surpassed

Ji Yutang at Park Hyatt Kyoto does not make any deliberate expressions. The dim lighting, the warm fireplace, the simple sofas and wooden tables, the unassuming Ikebana arrangements, the presence of gentle wooden sculptures and abstract paintings. Here, everything is exceptionally simple, yet surprisingly balanced and harmonious. I can't recall any other hotel that has been able to establish its own aesthetics so seamlessly. Unlike the hidden entrances of most Park Hyatts, the black sign of Park Hyatt Kyoto stands right by the Ninenzaka slope, leading guests towards the greenery beyond. Unsuspecting shoppers passing by will invariably stop and cast their gaze towards the hotel, as if attracted by some mysterious force. Just a hundred steps from the sign into the hotel, and it feels like you've entered a tranquil sanctuary. This surpassing of visual barriers is naturally more ingenious than simply concealing the entrance. -
