Wonderful Kyoto-Like Temple : Kenninji Temple

#fallishere Kennin-Ji, located in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, is the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto. There are many valuable cultural properties at Kennin-Ji, including the “Fujin Raijin Drawing” which is also designated as a national treasure. There’s a lot of unique features about this place that really made it stand out, including the interior courtyard gardens (not just the typical zen garden) and the huge (modern) dragon painting on the ceiling. I loved seeing the traditional style house, it was very immersive. You have to take off your shoes to enter. Worth the entrance fee in my opinion. It was so peaceful and quiet compared to the other temples around Kyoto.
