Charming town of Kutaisi

Kutaisi felt distinct from other places I’ve visited in Georgia — smaller and more tranquil than Tbilisi, yet still vibrant in its own unique way. The city features a blend of old Soviet-style architecture, refurbished squares, and bustling local markets that showcase the rhythm of daily life. The central square, adorned with a grand golden fountain, serves as an excellent starting point, from which you can easily explore side streets filled with cozy cafés and quaint shops. I particularly enjoyed strolling along the Rioni River, especially in the evenings when the bridges are softly illuminated. The city’s slower pace invites you to relax in a café, observe the locals, and soak in the atmosphere. Kutaisi also serves as a convenient base for exploring nearby attractions such as monasteries and caves. However, the city itself is worth dedicating a day to. It’s not overly polished, but that’s part of its appeal — it feels authentic and lived-in.
